The Podguri Alpine Club will organize the Kosovo Championship in the Hood Game for the second time, which is one of the oldest games played by our ancestors, and the goal of this organization is the revival, cultivation, codification, digitalization, promotion and transfer to new generations of what is called the movable spiritual heritage of Kosovo.

Highly appreciating the Hood Game, as well as the large number of people this game attracts, this activity will become traditional in the Municipality of Istog, writes \"Gazeta Express\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kosovo Championship in the Hood Game will be organized under the patronage of the Federation of Traditional Games and Sports of Kosovo (FLSTK), which was held in the Kaliqan Village, at the Osmanaj Chamber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants were 43 teams from different municipalities of Kosovo and Albania, as well as over 200 guests from all over Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were also guests from the Kosovo sports community, people of art, culture and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Kosovo Championship in the Hood Game was held in early 2020 in the Municipality of Istog, Kaliqan Village, also at the Osmanaj Chamber, and also organized by the Podguri Alpine Club under the patronage of the Federation of Traditional Games and Sports of Kosovo (FLSTK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this organization is to restore the tradition of these games, to cultivate it, to play, to codify, to digitize and to pass on to new generations this game that has been played for hundreds and thousands of years in our lands and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History of the Hood Game<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was played by adult boys to elderly men, who gathered in the winter season to spend the long winter nights, or at weddings and feasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six to eight people participated, who were divided into two groups, kneeling a few steps apart, in the middle of the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the hoods (or socks) were secured, they would draw lots to see which one of them would hide the grain (feather) first, and thus the game would begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first team to reach 100 points wins, writes \"Gazeta Express\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the winning group, along with all the other participants who did not play, stand up, join hands, creating a line of men, and begin to sing to the group that lost the game, with mocking and offensive songs, often even insulting, as the game's custom dictates. \/Gazeta Express\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
